Dating: The Do’s and Don’ts of Texting Etiquette

One of the first questions we all stumble over after a Date is ‘is it too early to text him?’ but that’s not the only dilemma. Should you add a kiss? How many texts should I send a day? These are all questions we ask ourselves when we’ve got a new man on the scene.

Fortunately, Cupid.com have done some research and found out exactly what’s acceptable, and what isn’t, when it comes to texting your Date.
Here are the do’s and don’ts of texting etiquette, enjoy!
DO: Wait Until the Next Day to Text Them
One of the biggest questions is how long should we wait after the date to get in touch? Well, Cupid found that most men and women will wait until the morning after the date to text saying they had a good time.
DON’T: Leave it too Long
Although you might want to make them sweat a little, leaving it too long can make a guy lose interest. Women are the worst for this as a fifth will wait until the guy texts them first, but only 3 per cent of men have such willpower.
DO: Sign off with a Kiss
Worried that a kiss on the end of a tight might come across as too desperate? Worry not, two thirds of men and women think it’s perfectly okay to put a kiss on the text to a person they just started dating.
DON’T: Use Emoticons
Using every smiley under the sun won’t do you any favours in the texting department. Women are the worst offenders and a quarter of men see it as childish.
DO: Keep in Touch
Texting back and forth throughout the day lets your date know that you’re interested and that you’re thinking about them.
DON’T: Overload them with Texts
Women said that if a guy sends them more than ten texts a day then they start to come across as creepy. Men, on the other hand, think that the more texts the better.
DO: Make Yourself Available
If you had a good time and would like a second date then make yourself available for one. Over three quarters of men would be put off if you said you were ‘busy at the moment’ after them texting asking if you would like to go on a second date.
DON’T: Look Desperate
As much as you might want to seem like you’re interested, don’t be saying you want to spend every night of the week with them. Nearly two thirds of women said it would creep them out if a guy wanted to spend every night with them after texting to suggest a second date.
